Mina Konigsberg, PhD

Autonomous Metropolitan University - Iztapalapa, Mexico

Mina Konigsberg is a full Professor at the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM) at Mexico City, where she completed her PhD in Biological Sciences. She currently leads the Laboratory of Bioenergetics and Cellular Aging in the Department of Health Sciences. Her research focuses on healthy aging, and she studies cellular senescence, mitochondrial bioenergetics, inflammation, and oxidative stress; her laboratory is nationally recognized as a leader in these areas.

Her leadership roles include coordinating the Graduate Program in Experimental Biology and directing the Biochemistry and Cellular Physiology Section of the Department of Health Sciences. She served on the Technical Academic Committee of REDESDS (Thematic Network on Aging, Health, and Social Development) and co-founded the Mexican science advocacy group Mujeres de Ciencia en Red (Women in Science Network), which brings together female researchers to reduce gender gaps and promote sorority among female academics and students. She is currently a member of the University’s Governing Board.

Among her honors are teaching and research awards granted by her university. The Dr. José Laguna Medal, awarded by the Bioenergetics and Biomembranes Branch of the Mexican Society of Biochemistry for her distinguished academic achievements, and the Dr. Jorge Rosenkranz Medical Research Award, awarded by Roche Mexico, FUNSALUD, ANMM, and AMFEM in Basic Research. She is an active member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences and the National System of Researchers.
